Best Fall Coloring Books for Adults: 3 Beautiful Picks for Cozy Autumn Days

Best Fall Coloring Books for Adults: 3 Beautiful Picks for Cozy Autumn Days

I love fall. The beautiful colors, the changing leaves, and especially those long walks through the woods when I can forget about everything else for a while.

There’s something wonderful about hearing the leaves crunch beneath my feet, the occasional snap of a twig, and the quiet sounds of nature all around me.

Those walks are my favorite way to clear my head

And when I get home? I make myself a nice cup of tea, grab my favorite coloring markers and colored pencils, and settle down with a coloring book.

During fall, I’m naturally drawn to warm oranges, golden yellows, deep reds, and earthy browns. I love bringing some of those beautiful autumn colors into my coloring pages.

That’s why I’ve picked three fall coloring books for adults that I think are especially enjoyable this time of year. Each has its own personality, from nature-inspired illustrations to mysterious witches and magical woodland creatures.

1. Notes from Nature by Johanna Basford: Color, Create, and Share a Little Happiness

What I love about Johanna Basford’s Notes from Nature is that it’s more than just a coloring book. It’s a collection of 30 beautiful affirmation cards you can color, personalize, and even give to someone special.

I really like that idea. You’re not just enjoying a relaxing coloring session. You’re creating something meaningful that might brighten someone else’s day.

Each card features Johanna Basford’s lovely nature-inspired illustrations, with flowers, leaves, and uplifting messages.

Take a look at this card. With its autumn leaves, little acorns, colorful berries, and delicate flowers, it immediately reminds me of my walks through the woods.

For this one, I chose warm oranges, golden yellows, deep reds, and different shades of green. I had so much fun bringing out the little details and playing with the colors of fall.

And I especially love the message: “The stillness of nature brings me peace and focus.”

It perfectly captures how I feel after a long walk in the forest, when my mind is clear and I’m ready to settle down with my colored pencils.

But here’s what makes these cards even more special: once you’ve finished coloring, you can give them to someone you care about.

Imagine slipping one into a birthday gift, sending a little encouragement to a friend, or simply displaying your favorite card on your desk.

2. Halloween by Hanna Karlzon: A Little Mystery, Magic, and Color

Witches, spells, and mysterious creatures… Halloween is coming!

And what better excuse to bring out your colored pencils and enter a world filled with magic?

With Halloween by Hanna Karlzon, you get that special atmosphere I love about this time of year: a little mystery, a touch of fantasy, and just enough spooky charm to make things interesting.

Look at this beautiful witch with her oversized purple hat, fiery orange hair, and autumn-colored sunflowers.

There’s something intriguing about her, don’t you think?

I had so much fun playing with oranges, browns, and purples for this illustration.

And that’s what makes Halloween coloring so enjoyable. You can really let your imagination run wild.

Why not give your witch bright blue hair? Or an emerald-green hat? Maybe add a few golden highlights to make everything feel even more magical.

Halloween is the perfect excuse to try color combinations you wouldn’t normally choose.

I also love working with contrasting shades to make the details stand out. A little shadow here, a brighter color there, and suddenly the whole illustration comes to life.

Another appealing feature is the hardcover edition, which comes with thick, high-quality paper. It’s a lovely format for anyone who enjoys detailed coloring books and wants something special to keep.

Just remember to test your markers first, especially alcohol-based ones, since even thick paper can allow ink to bleed through.

So before you get busy preparing candy for trick-or-treaters, why not treat yourself to a little Halloween coloring time?

After all, the magic doesn’t have to end on October 31!

3. Tales from the Forest Kingdom by Hanna Karlzon: Where the Forest Comes to Life

In Hanna Karlzon’s forests, the animals aren’t quite like the ones you might see during an ordinary walk in the woods!

Just look at this owl.

With his monocle, elegant purple vest, oversized turquoise bow tie, and little golden stars, he looks like a character straight out of a fairy tale.

And that’s exactly what I enjoy about Tales from the Forest Kingdom: every illustration makes you want to invent your own little story.

For this owl, I used Prismacolor Premier colored pencils.

I enjoyed layering different shades of brown to give his feathers more depth, playing with purples for his vest, and adding touches of golden yellow to make the stars shine.

Watching all those little details come together was such a pleasure!

And that’s what makes detailed adult coloring books so rewarding.

You can spend time experimenting with shading, layering colors, creating soft gradients, or simply following your imagination.

Maybe your owl will wear a bright red vest. Perhaps the background will become a deep midnight blue, or you’ll add a few unexpected colors to give the whole scene a magical glow.

There’s no right or wrong way to color a fantasy world. You get to create your own.

This hardcover edition also features thick, high-quality paper, making it an appealing choice for anyone who enjoys spending time on intricate illustrations.

If you love whimsical animals, magical forests, and coloring pages filled with charming little details, this is a wonderful world to explore.
